Writing a test

Grade 5

Grade 5 skills are known to impact the access of opportunities for your child. One such as way is through NAPLAN. As Grade 5 is your most recent NAPLAN results, the majority of Victorian schools will use this to decide whether your child is academically prepared to enrol and receive prestigious awards and scholarships.

Unfortunately, some students feel overwhelmed or neglected in their current classroom. A lack of encouragement and personal attention can significantly decrease your child's confidence
and growth.

Lunar Academy only demands the best for your child. Under the guidance of your expert tutor, you will see tremendous academic and social improvement - not only in the present but in their future.

Curriculum

At Lunar Academy, your tutor will create customised weekly content to address your child's unique learning style and needs, all while aligning with the rigorous standards of the Victorian Curriculum.

In the beginning months, your tutor will guide your child through utilising their knowledge to help strategise and prepare for NAPLAN and ICAS. Our personalised sessions will ensure that your child, regardless of their current skill level, will see significant improvement in their academic skills and assertiveness.

Our curriculum is informed by the Victorian curriculum to ensure your child meets all their learning outcomes. Your tutor will also guide your child to more difficult related topics to extend their knowledge past their age group. This allows your child to be more prepared than their peers for Grade 6, which may grant further opportunities and recognition. Ultimately, your child will be a confident student with a strive and love for learning.

To help students prepare and build confidence, we conduct two tests each term. These assessments review class content and cover all areas of the Victorian Curriculum and NAPLAN. They help identify gaps in learning, which are then addressed through customised lesson content tailored to each student. This approach supports students to consolidate their learning, excel academically, and achieve their personal best. It also provides a strong foundation for those aiming to participate in ICAS, scholarship, and selective entry programs, demonstrating the effectiveness of Lunar Academy’s teaching.

Sessions

Lunar Academy offers flexible online and in-person classes. Sessions are 2.5 hours long and cover all areas of the English and mathematics Victorian Curriculum. If you would prefer your child to enrol in a single subject only, we are happy to accommodate this.

It is highly recommended that your child attends a session at least once per week to solidify their learning outcomes. The arrangement of fewer or more sessions is welcomed.

There are two types of sessions offered: Group and Private. Private sessions are attentive one-on-one sessions with your child and tutor. Group sessions involve a tutor interacting with no more than six students. We have no classroom-sized sessions as we believe that children learn best when they have the complete attention of their tutor.

The Lunar Academy Method:
Our Material

Our materials are exclusive to Lunar Academy, all created by Sophia Franklin from her years of teaching experience. We believe that high-quality explanations, correct pacing, and curriculum design are key reasons why our students consistently outperform and reach their full potential.

English

English runs on a cycle of reading comprehension, writing, and language conventions, ensuring all areas are covered under the guidance of a tutor. Tutors provide detailed feedback to help students understand and address areas for improvement.

Where Quality Education Meets Fairness

In today's economy, soaring prices have put many restrictions. Access to a quality education shouldn't be one of them. Lunar Academy and its tutors were born and raised in the Victorian Curriculum. We personally understand how challenging accessing reliable resources and help can be, especially when they come with an inflated price tag.

Students today are experiencing a post-COVID world and a teacher shortage. It is now more important than ever that we pass on indispensable knowledge to the next generation.

Unlike other institutions that prioritise profit and underpay staff, we firmly believe that all students and teachers have the right to the best educational environment. By choosing Lunar Academy, you're not just selecting the best place to educate your child; you're also contributing to our mission to help all students achieve their personal goals. Together, we can empower your child to excel academically and reach their full potential.
