Where Did We Begin...
Lunar Academy has been a long time in the making. Years of teaching in the Australian Education System have given us indispensable knowledge of its learning outcomes, structure and shortcomings. After witnessing first-hand how students have become less confident and equipped in the school's classroom, we have decided to take this into our own hands. We have proudly built our own program that will best support you and your child throughout their learning journey.
Welcome
Lunar Academy prides itself in being the best place for students to enhance their education and achieve their dreams. We teach students of ALL LEVELS, from kindergarteners taking their first steps in education to senior students preparing for VCE or IB—and everyone in between!

Meet the Founder
Sophia Franklin

A Warm Welcome to Lunar Academy!
I'm Sophia Franklin, the owner and founder of Lunar Academy. With over 10 years of experience teaching and working with children and their families, I've dedicated myself to helping students achieve their dreams and educational outcomes. I am currently pursuing my Master’s in Teaching to continue developing my skills and teach others how to educate students effectively.
I combine my academic achievements with practical teaching experience to provide exceptional education. I graduated at the top of my cohort in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program during the peak of COVID, ranking in the top 10% worldwide. I also hold a High Distinction in the Bachelor of Agriculture from the University of Melbourne, Australia's top Agricultural degree program. I chose to study agriculture to deepen my understanding of sustainability and the ways in which people interact with the world, with the goal of teaching others how to live better and more sustainably.
My Experience
My teaching journey began at just 11 years old in my family’s martial arts business, where I discovered my passion for education. By 13, I was running classes for younger students, learning how to connect with and inspire learners. Later, as a Sergeant in the Australian Army Cadets, I gained valuable leadership experience in overseeing company training.
Navigating the challenges of the Victorian Education System during the COVID-19 pandemic gave me a deeper understanding of effective teaching strategies, particularly in overcoming learning disruptions. This experience inspired me to establish Lunar Academy, where we focus on helping students thrive in a post-COVID world.
My teaching philosophy centres on fostering curiosity, confidence, and perseverance in my students. I believe that great educators do more than just impart knowledge—they inspire a love for learning. Through my roles as both an educator and entrepreneur, I am dedicated to empowering students and helping shape brighter futures.

My Experience
My journey began in high school, when I started tutoring fellow classmates and family friends. What started as a way to help others quickly grew into a lasting passion for education. It was through this that I realised that teaching is not just about content, but also about connection. Helping students feel seen, supported and empowered.
I specialise in Year 7 - 10 English and Maths for Select School level, guiding students through advanced content and competitive assessments. I understand the pressure high-achieving students often face, and I love to customise each lesson to build not only my student's skills, but also confidence in their abilities.
I believe learning should be engaging, empowering and genuinely enjoyable. My goal is to create a space where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes and grow at their own pace. I know that every student learns differently, and wish to take the time to understand how each individual works best.

Hello!
Hi, I’m Amy, a tutor who genuinely loves helping students feel confident in their learning. I’m currently studying a Master of Counselling at Monash University, after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Criminology at The University of Melbourne.
I’ve always had a passion for both writing and problem-solving. I love creative writing that explores emotions and symbolism, and I also get a real buzz from cracking tricky algebra questions or untangling challenging worded problems. Whether it’s crafting a strong essay or breaking down a confusing maths question, I’m here to guide students step by step.
For me, tutoring is about more than just test scores. I aim to create a space where students feel safe to make mistakes, ask questions and grow their confidence. Every student learns differently, and the best part of my job is figuring out how to make learning click for each person.
